The following external scholarships relate to Māori students.

Maori Education Trust Scholarships
The Maori Education Trust is financed from private bequests and trusts set up from individuals or businesses. A primary function of the Trust is to provide and administer scholarships in education for Maori students. In addition to MET funded awards, the trust is also contracted to administer scholarships on behalf of the Ministry of Education and other agencies. Scholarships available for Secondary School Leavers, Undergraduate & Postgraduate Students These awards are available to Secondary School Leavers, Undergraduate and Postgraduate students. Hauraki Maori Trust Board Education Grants 2009
To support students who are undertaking full time or part time study towards a diploma or higher level qualification, who have whakapapa to one or more of the Hauraki iwi and are on the Tribal Register of the Hauraki Maori Trust Board. 
Amount Awarded - Grants will cover the cost of tuition fees

Health Research Council of New Zealand
The HRC purchases a range of health research, including biomedical, clinical, public health, health services, Maori and Pacific research. We actively support research that contributes to Maori development and advancement. In addition to our main funding round, we also fund health research career development awards for Maori including: Masters Scholarships, PhD Scholarships and Post Doctoral Scholarships and Maori Grants in Aid and Seeding Grants.

Hortresearch Nga Toa Ngaki Kai Postgraduate Scholarship for Maori Students
Nga Toa Ngaki Kai – HortResearch’s network of maori staff - is offering a scholarship to a highly capable student of Maori descent to complete a Masters degree in a scientific or engineering discipline relevant to HortResearch’s work.


Amount Awarded  - $15,000.00, paid summer work, training budget, research assistance

Wairakei Charitable Trust
The Trust will make available an annual Wairakei-Tauhara Hapu tertiary education scholarship of $2500 to encourage and upskill Nga Hapu members in tertiary education. The tertiary education scholarship has a special emphasis on (but not limited to) the area of natural resource management.
Amount Awarded - $2 500.00
Closing Date - 30th January annually
