Postgraduate Scholarships

Asian Journalism Fellowship

A fellowship for an established or promising young Asian journalist sponsored by the Asia New Zealand Foundation to be attached to the Pacific Media Centre. The fellowship can be used for a special purpose visit to New Zealand and/or to undertake postgraduate studies.

Asia Pacific Journalism Internships

These professional postgraduate internships are sponsored by scholarships from the Asia New Zealand Foundation and the AUT/China Daily Exchange Programme, and organised by the School of Communication Studies' Pacific Media Centre in association with the 149118 Asia Pacific Journalism paper

Three internships are usually available at two destinations each year
  • Chinadaily.com
    Beijing, China - three months ($2500 return airfares, plus on site accommodation and modest living allowance of RMB 3000 - approx. NZ$570 a month - provided by the China Daily)

  • The Jakarta Globe or Jakarta Post, Indonesia
    Six weeks ($3500 toward airfares and expenses, as no accommodation or living allowance is provided by the host media organisation).

Electricity Engineers’ Association (EEA) Scholarship

The Electricity Engineers’ Association (EEA) Scholarship was established by the EEA in 2012 to assist students studying for the degrees of Bachelor of Engineering (BE) (Honours) and the Bachelor of Engineering Technology (BET).
Amount awarded - $4,500.00 stipend, paid in two equal instalments.

Solnet Solutions Scholarship for Potential Software Engineers

Solnet Solutions is a leading company in the IT sector in New Zealand providing a range of solutions and services to major corporate and Government organisations. This Scholarship is offered annually by Solnet to encourage academic performance and interest in the area of professional software development and systems integration. The Scholarship shall consist of $5,000 per annum and in addition will provide paid project work (at Solnet’s premises in Wellington or Auckland) of between six and eight weeks between the penultimate and final years of study. Applications are invited from students who are currently in their penultimate year (ie second to last year) in the field of Engineering. Please see the scholarship guidelines for more details.
