International and study abroad fees: how to pay them

You have a choice about how to pay your tuition and other fees. This page has the different payment methods and options, and how we notify you about your fees.

Your fees: how we notify you

If you receive an offer of place, you will receive information about the specific amount of tuition fees you are required to pay, the enrolment fee, insurance fees, date of payment, methods of payment and a copy of the University’s refund policy.

  • If you do not pay in full by the due date, you risk losing your place in class and a late payment fee of $100 will be charged.
  • If you attend class without paying, you should contact international student support services immediately.
You have a number of payment options. Regardless of how you pay, please ensure you allow plenty of time for your payment to be processed by the due date.

Your receipt/payment acknowledgement

When your payment is received, the University will send you a receipt via email and post using the contact details you have supplied. As an international student, you will need a student visa/permit to study in New Zealand. You must present your receipt to Immigration New Zealand (INZ) as part of your visa application.

Please email us if you want us to acknowledge receipt of your payment

StudentPay - international funds transfer

StudentPay is our preferred method of payment.

With StudentPay, you can pre-pay your tuition fees by making an international transfer directly from your local bank account to an AUT Custom House account. You can also pay your accommodation fees and insurance at the same time.

An international funds transfer enables you to make your payment safely and quickly in your local currency or in a variety of major currencies including AUD, USD, EUR, GBP and JPY. You can also track the progress of your payment online. StudentPay is the fastest way to obtain a receipt for inclusion in your student visa application.

How to pay using StudentPay

  • To pay using international funds transfer, follow the steps to gain authorisation and use the instructions below.

  • The AUT Custom House account details will appear on the authorisation form which you will need to print and use when processing the payment.

  • If you can pay in your local currency, transfer the funds using your internet banking system or go into your local bank to make this transfer.

    Or

  • If you are paying in a major currency (that is not your local currency), print the authorisation form and take it to your local bank. The bank will follow the simple instructions on the authorisation form.

Telegraphic transfer

You can use an overseas telegraphic transfer facility to remit your fee payment from a home country bank. Overseas transfers usually take up to 5 working days for the money to be received by AUT. You need to note that your transfer will incur bank charges from your bank and AUT’s bank. Therefore, in order to be credited with your full invoice payment, you need to ensure that your transfer includes enough money to cover both your AUT fees and bank charges.
