Applying to study at AUT in 2012: how the process works

This page outlines the things you should do to make your application to AUT run as smoothly as possible. It summarises the things that we do when we receive your application and the possible outcomes of your application.

Things you should do when applying to study at AUT

Apply for the course(s) in which you’re most interested and likely to do well

The key thing we look for when assessing your application is whether you are capable of successfully completing the course(s) for which you’ve applied. The better you do at NCEA (or equivalent), the better your chances of being offered a place to study at AUT.

Apply to study as early as you can

The earlier you apply, the sooner we can process your application and make a decision.

Apply online to study at AUT (this takes you to our Arion application software)

Steps AUT follows when we receive your application

For example, we will contact you if we need a document or portfolio, or if we wish to interview you.

This may be a few days after we’ve received your application. But for other courses, it may take us several months to make a decision. For example, we may need to wait for your final NCEA (or equivalent) results.
