International student entry requirements for undergraduate degrees and diplomas

Bachelors degree

To be admitted to an AUT University undergraduate degree all applicants are required to have University Entrance. This is the minimum level of entry to study a degree. See the university entry equivalents table below for requirements for your country. If your country isn’t listed, contact the International Centre. Please note, because of competition for places, entry level above the minimum may be required for admission to some programmes.

Graduate diploma and graduate certificate

Graduate diplomas (one year) and graduate certificates (one semester) are considered undergraduate programmes but students need to generally have completed an undergraduate qualification for entry.

Canada Grade 12 certificate	Canada 65% overall average grade (Ontario)
China Year 3 certificate of graduation, minimum 75%	China Senior high school graduation AND: either 1 year of successful study at bachelors level; or completion of a 2-year diploma,with good grades, at a recognised university
Fiji Fiji school leaving certificate	Fiji Fiji form 7, aggregate over 4 subjects of 250, with a minimum of 50 in English USP Foundation year, 7 passes with a minimum of C in Communication
France	France Baccalaureat de L’enseignement du second degree with a minimum of 10 Diploma de Bachelier de L’enseignement du second degree with a minimum of 10
GCE	GCE For A levels taken in countries other than UK, at least 3 results and must have achieved at least 1 grade at level C or above A result in General Studies cannot be included among the 3 on which the application is based
Germany Mittlere reife/realschulabschluss	Germany Successful completion of senior high school - Abitur
Hong Kong HK Certificate of Education	Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education with 3 subjects achieved at level 4 or better, including English and 2 elective subjects.
India Higher Secondary Certificate (standard xii), minimum 60%	India A year’s successful study at a recognised institution of university standing; or an overall average over four subjects (not including native languages and non-academic subjects) of 75% in either the Higher Secondary School Examination or the All India Senior Secondary School Certificate, with a minimum of 60% in English
	International Baccalaureate The diploma must have been completed (24 points minimum)
Indonesia SMU 7.0	Indonesia Successful completion of one year's tertiary study at a recognised institution SMU, minimum 8.5
Japan Upper Secondary School Leaving Certificate	Japan Successful completion of High School Diploma with a B average Successful completion of one year in a recognised university Successful completion of a junior college degree diploma of 2-3 years duration
Malaysia SPM, or Chinese unified exams	Malaysia STPM with 3 principal passes A maximum of 15 points over 6 academic subjects in the unified examination certificate, which must include 1 of chemistry, physics or advanced mathematics A levels with at least 3 results with 1 grade at level C or above SAM with a Tertiary Entrance Rank of 69.6 Canadian pre-university exam Australian completion of year 12 with a minimum Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) score of 69.6. Norway	Norway Successful completion of Videregaende Skole
Pakistan	Pakistan Successful completion of one year’s tertiary study at a recognised tertiary institution
Philippines	Philippines Successful completion of one year’s tertiary study at a recognised tertiary institution
Russia Certificate of Secondary Education; or Certificate of Maturity	Russia Successful completion of one year's tertiary study at a recognised tertiary institution
Saudi Arabia	Saudi Arabia One year of successful study towards a bachelor degree at a recognised university or Successful completion of a diploma at a recognised college of technology or Successful completion of a junior health diploma at a recognised tertiary institution or Successful completion of a higher technical institute diploma at a recognised tertiary institution
Singapore CEO O level in 4 subjects	Singapore GCE A levels, with 3 passes: a minimum of 2 H2 passes and a third pass at H1 or H2 level plus at least an E grade in N-level/O-level mathematics or additional mathematics
South Africa	South Africa Complied with the matriculation requirements of the South African Certification Council and achieved an aggregate of at least C, with at least a D in English, in the Matriculation Certificate or Senior Certificate
South Korea High School Diploma	South Korea A minimum of 250 in the Korean university entrance examination
Sri Lanka GCE O levels	Sri Lanka GCE A levels, with 3 passes with a minimum of one at C, or bette
Sweden	Sweden Successful completion of Avgangsbetyg Successful completion of Slutbetyg Fran Gymnasieskola
Taiwan Senior High School	Taiwan Successful completion of senior high school and a 2 year junior college diploma Successful completion of junior high school and a 5 year junior college diploma Successful completion of one year's tertiary study at a recognised tertiary institution
Thailand Matayom 6	Thailand Matayom 6 with either 80% or more of grades at level 4 or a GPA of 2.5 or higher, with a relevant subject mix Successful completion of one year's tertiary study at a recognised tertiary institution
UAE 70% or better in Tawajihyya (Secondary School Certificate)	UAE Successful completion of one year's tertiary study at a recognised tertiary institution
