Sport and exercise science at AUT University: an overview

  • Also referred to as exercise science
Sport and exercise science is a broad area encompassing two main elements - sports performance and health and wellbeing. While sport science is a well-established discipline that focuses on sport performance enhancement, there is a growing interest and industry tied to health and wellbeing. Exercise scientists have a role in providing specific exercise advice to the general public, seeking to improve their health. AUT has strong links with the sports and health industry, therefore courses, research and service work have an applied and practical focus, giving students ample opportunity to gain experience and make useful contacts.
