New students

mentors01Starting out at university is an exciting time but it can be somewhat daunting. You are required to think differently, learn differently, interact differently and take in many new experiences. One thing to remember is that university is very different to college/secondary school or the workforce.

You are required to be independent learners; to take ownership and responsibility for handing assignments in on time, turning up to class or sitting an exam. To help you with this, AUT University provides a supportive environment — both in class and through the wide range of support services available.

The following section will try to answer the many questions you may have about starting out at AUT University; things such as ID cards, enrolment issues, passing or failing assignments and where to go if you need help. Remember — if you’re stuck at any stage — just ask. We’re here to help!
