Pare Keiha. Associate Professor Pare Keiha has a unique background that spans both academic and commercial environments. He is currently the Tumuaki of Te Ara Poutama, the Head of the Faculty of Maori Development, at the Auckland University of Technology. He also maintains an active career as a professional director and is a member of the Board of the Foundation for Research Science and Technology (FRST), Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA) and the Waerenga-a-Hika Trust Board. He is a director of Port of Gisborne Ltd and Gisborne City Holdings Ltd and is a member of the Institute of Directors.

 

Dr Keiha's business experience covers strategic and business planning, project management and marketing. He also has significant research experience in the disciplines of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering for which he holds the degrees of MSc and PhD respectively.

 

Dr Keiha's present academic pursuits include Maori development, competition law and policy, intellectual property law, corporate governance and the economics of the New Zealand primary products sector. He holds the degree of Master of Commercial Law in those areas of study.

 

He currently advises a number of Maori enterprises, including both tribal and pan-tribal organisations, and state sector entities in the areas of business development, management and strategy. His tribal affiliations lie with the principle tribes of Turanga, specifically the whanau-a-Taupara hapu of T'Aitanga-a-Mahaki and Rongowhakaata.
