Mental Health Research

The Mental Health Research Programme is one of the newer areas within the the National Institute for Public Health and Mental Health Research. The Programme aims to develop an understanding of specific issues on New Zealanders' mental health, including legal issues. Currently, discussions are underway regarding the focus of future research within the Programme.

Associate Professor Kate Diesfeld and Dr Rex Billington are Co-Leaders of the Programme and associated members are Dr Stefan Sjostrom (Research Fellow of the National Institute and Associate Professor at Umea University, Sweden) and Dr Ian Freckelton SC (Adjunct Professor of the National Institute and Professor of Law at Monash University, Australia).
