bangladesh3 bangladesh4

This recently established programme is aimed at enhancing the National Institute's Environmental Health focus, scientific capacity and development of the people-centred approach while acting as a bridge between, and extension of, existing research centres.

The unique philosophical approach of the programme is investigation of applications of technical structures and processes in a community-orientated and empowering manner. Projects include:

  • Developing country environmental health such as arsenic contaminated drinking water in Bangladesh
  • Strategies for improving community-orientation of professional and institutional science and public health conduct
  • Relationships between mercury exposure and behaviour problems
  • Environmental health programme for the Pacific Islands Families study
  • Indigenous and Maori basic services provision
