Dr Wayne Hing is a Principal Lecturer in the School of Physiotherapy and a researcher in the Health & Rehabilitation Research Centre. Wayne has worked in musculoskeletal physiotherapy throughout his time at AUT. He has a special interest in sports injuries and recovery. Wayne is currently the medical co-ordinator for the Hockey New Zealand Federation Inc. His research areas include musculoskeletal sonography, articular cartilage physiology, connective tissue pathology, spinal manipulative techniques and vertebrobasilar insufficiency. Current research includes investigation into the effect of head position on neck vessel blood flow, investigation of neural tissue motion using diagnostic ultrasound and specific studies centred around sonography of the shoulder. Wayne currently sits on the Editorial Boards of the international journals Manual Therapy and the Journal of Manual & Manipulative Therapy.
