AUT marine boatThe Institute (AENZ) has 4 research clusters that reflect staff expertise and track record in research:
  • Applied Conservation
  • Aquaculture & Fisheries

  • Global Change Ecology

Welcome to AENZ

Our Institute has a mission to conduct high-quality research with relevance and immediacy to New Zealand and global environmental issues. Our research philosophy is collaborative, and we have strong links with leading academic and industrial partners.

We benefit from excellent research facilities. Our field capabilities include two marine research vessels and SCUBA, and we have pioneered the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) for research in terrestrial landscapes in NZ. Major laboratory equipment includes aquaculture simulators and marine aquaria; analytical suite (AA, ICP, HPLC, GC, GC-MS, LC-MS, FTIR), microscopy suite (atomic-force, laser-confocal, Raman, SEM and TEM), plus high-throughput sequencing and real-time PCR platforms (illumina, Roche).

AENZ is part of the Faculty of Health and Environmental Sciences at Auckland University of Technology

We welcome enquiries on research projects and commercial services aenz@aut.ac.nz.
