Research development: turning knowledge into revenue

Just as AUT University’s study programmes are shaped by industry and community needs, so too is the development of our research.

We have 2 types of research development:

  • Sale or licensing of AUT’s research findings and outputs
  • AUT researchers providing research consultancy

The units charged with this function are the:

UNIVERSITY RESEARCH OFFICE
Links the university’s research with business and industry. It supports the transfer of research and technology through:

  • Contract research
  • Consultancy services
  • Postgraduate Research

(Visit the ‘Study Areas’ section of this website for information on AUT’s postgraduate research degrees)

Opportunities to partner AUT in research

Research partnerships are symbiotic; they achieve a greater combined outcome than if the parties tackle separately the research problem or opportunity.

Contact the University Research Office if you are interested in getting involved in our research development.

BUSINESS INNOVATION CENTRE
AUT’s business incubator for start-up and existing businesses, and our centre for technology commercialisation. Facilities and services include:

  • Business sector and industry studies
  • Commercialisation projects for researchers
  • Intertwining of research and technology
  • Spin off creation
  • Technology licensing
