Biography:

Heather has been teaching at AUT University for more than 25 years, has taught in England and also has experience as a teacher of English in secondary schools. She is a long-term editor of Password magazine, a magazine for new speakers of English, and editor of several books of collected articles from Password.

  • Action research and reflective practice as teacher development tools
  • Using authentic and semi-authentic texts to teach the language and pragmatics of conversation negotiation to adult migrants and refugees
  • Teaching English to Deaf adults
