Doug has extensive experience at senior executive level in marketing companies and advertising agencies. He is a specialist in strategic planning and the developing of communications strategies. He held managerial positions with multi-national organisations Shell and Dunlop before being moving into the advertising industry where in addition to his responsibilities as both a Managing Director and Board member he focused on clients marketing and management requirements.
Doug is recognised for his impressive background in advertising management and as a practitioner both internationally and in New Zealand, particularly in the areas of brand development, social issues and corporate image.
Doug has had the significant leadership role in the establishment of the CAANZ/AUT Communications School. His strong industry linkages, respect and experience have been the key to its success from its inception, introduction and on going development. As a member of the School’s Governing Board, he directs the programme ensuring it is delivered to meet the industry’s professional development needs, and the academic rigor and quality standards of AUT. This role is pivotal in AUT’s Business Faculty maintaining its pre-eminent role as the university of choice in the advertising and communications industry.
