New Zealand Council of Engineering Deans

Introduction

Four year professional engineering degrees are currently offered at seven institutions in New Zealand The individuals responsible for oversight of these degrees have formed the New Zealand Council of Engineering Deans (NZCED).

Professional engineering education has as its essential features:

  • A synthesis of science, technology, management and economics applied with judgement within professional and ethical restraints
  • Systems thinking which allows solutions to complex and ill-defined problems
  • Graduates who are prepared for careers in professional engineering and business activities in many sectors of the economy.

The NZCED has a vision for engineering education in New Zealand.
