The following persons shall be entitled to membership of the Library:
- Staff and students of the University.
- Staff of the University's Students' Association.
- Members of the University Council.
- Members of the University Advisory Boards.
- Persons awarded an honorary status by the Council of the University.
- Persons who are officially and currently engaged in teaching AUT students.
Loans policy
Associate membership
- Staff and students of associated organisations (associated organisations have a written agreement or memorandum of understanding with AUT)
- Graduates of AUT and other New Zealand universities
- Short term contract staff of AUT
External membership
- Any person wishing to use the Library for academic research or study
Corporate membership
- Any persons, up to five in number, who wish to take out a corporate membership
What services are provided by Associate Membership, External Membership or Corporate Membership?
- Access to print, audio-visual and microform collections
- Borrowing facilities:

- up to 20 items may be borrowed at one time
- books are issued for 14 days, subject to recall
- items may be renewed up to 5 times, subject to recall
- print serials are not for loan
- Access to AUT University Library catalogue
- Walk-in access to electronic journals and databases, if licenses permit. (Note: remote access via the Internet from locations outside AUT Library is not provided, nor are printing facilities)
- Information services
- Inter-campus requests
- Instructional services
- Photocopying (coin operated facility available)
What does it cost?
- Associate membership - $300.00 for 12 months, $150 for 6 months (50% rebate for alumni)
- External membership - $400 for 12 months, $200 for 6 months
- Corporate membership - $1200 for 12 months, $600 for 6 months
All fees are GST inclusive.
How do I apply?
Complete the application form available from the Lending Services Desk, or
download the application form.
- Applicants for associate membership must also provide proof of status.
- Submit the form, proof of status (where applicable) and a passport size photograph to:
- Attention Manager: Lending and Document Supply
- Once the application is processed the Manager of Lending and Document Supply will contact you to arrange payment and delivery of your library card.
- Payment of application fee may be made by cash, cheque, EFTPOS or credit card.
How do I renew my External Membership?
Membership may be renewed at any of the Lending Services Desks at AUT University Library upon payment of the applicable fee.
Conditions
External Members are bound by the
Library Regulations, and Copyright legislation and licensing obligations.
