Information Literacy Laboratory Use Policy

Purpose

To clarify the priority of use and provide a framework for the management of the Information Literacy Laboratories.

Priority of use

There are Information Literacy Laboratories in the City and North Shore Campus Libraries.
They were primarily developed to run Library Information Literacy programmes for AUT students and staff. They are also designated for approved events during the Library’s normal hours of operation.
Events considered acceptable use, in order of priority, include:
  • Library instruction or information literacy sessions for students and staff
  • Library staff training
  • IT Client Services network instruction sessions for students
  • Product demonstrations run by vendors of online resources
  • Library-sponsored events
  • AUT departmental training that requires use of the room’s instructional technology equipment
Management

Sessions are to be approved by and scheduled with the Information Literacy Co-ordinator.
Those authorised to use the Information Literacy Laboratory will be responsible for its equipment - obtaining permission from the Information Literacy Co-ordinator should modifications to the equipment configuration be necessary.
The authorised party will be responsible for providing any signage and/or additional software needed for their session and ensuring that any modification made to any of the Lab’s equipment be returned to the original state on completion of the session.
