Distance Library Service Policy

Purpose

The Distance Library Service will provide students who are studying AUT courses from off-campus, with library information and service requirements in support of their AUT studies.

Definitions

Students who are studying at AUT and who live more than 50 kilometres from the nearest Campus are considered to be 'off-campus'.
Students who have exceptional circumstances such as a major disability, or who are deemed to be eligible by the Faculty within which they are enrolled, may also receive this service.

Parameters

Undergraduate students may have up to 20 books on loan at any one time. The Library will courier books to a nominated mailing address and enclose a prepaid return bag. The loan period is 21 days and standard renewal conditions and penalties apply. Up to 20 photocopied articles or book chapters may be requested each semester. Articles will be emailed to the student's AUT email address.

Postgraduate students may have up to 50 books on loan at any one time. The Library will courier books to a nominated mailing address and enclose a prepaid return bag. Articles will be emailed to the student's AUT email address.

Procedure

Eligible students will submit requests via the following methods: The Library will abide by the conditions of the Copyright Act 1994, in supplying any photocopied material.
