Self-check machines are available at the City and North Shore Campus Libraries. You can also take items that you would like to borrow to the Lending Desks along with your ID card.
To see what items you have on loan, when they are due or to renew them go to the library homepage, http://www.aut.ac.nz/library. Choose Catalogue > Login to view your personal record under My Account.
Course Reserve is a collection of recommended course books, serials, videos and dvds which are in high demand. You can search for these items on the Catalogue using 'Course Reserve' and search by Paper Number, Lecturer or Department. Items are generally available for two-hour loan within the Library. Items with a “DL” in front of the Call Number are available for three-day loan.
e-Reserve is a collection of course-related supplementary readings, excerpts from books and journals, and lecture notes in digital format. Access to e-Reserve documents is via AUTonline (and is restricted to AUT staff and students currently enrolled in the relevant paper).
Please return or renew material on time. Failure to do so will result in fines being charged.
The fine for an overdue recalled item is $3.00 per day.
Overdue Course Reserve items are fined at 5 cents per minute.
You may request that available books from the North Shore or City Campus Libraries be sent to the Campus Library that you are based at. You can place an Inter Campus Request on the Library catalogue stating which campus library you would like to pick up the book from, or you may ask a staff member at the Lending Desk to place the request for you.
Library notices about fines, overdues and recalls are sent to your AUT email address. You need to check this address (username@aut.ac.nz) regularly. You can forward your AUT email to another account, if you prefer.
Setting up email forwarding:
We do not recommend that you forward your AUT email to restricted free email accounts such as Hotmail and Yahoo.
The Library will send free basic text messages to you when items are recalled, recalled and overdue, or when an item becomes available for you to collect. If you wish to find out more about this service there is further information available at Text Message Service.
Library resources are available to all students and staff. Please remember to bring your current student ID card or staff card to the Lending Services Desk. The ID card includes your Library barcode/borrower number. AUT staff ID cards can be obtained from the Academic Registry by arrangement with your Head of Department or Faculty Manager.
If an item is on loan you may recall it by placing a request on the Library Catalogue, or you may ask a staff member at the Lending Desk.
If an item is recalled from you you will be sent an email advising you of the new due date. You will have a minimum seven day loan period from the time you take a main collection book out.
Library material must be returned to the Returns slots located near the Lending Services Desks. There are After Hours Returns slots at both the City and North Shore Campus Libraries. When the Library is closed please return items through the After Hours Book Return slots at the following locations:
City Campus Library: Level 4 of the Learning Centre (accessible from Hikuwai Plaza)University Library Aotearoa New Zealand (ULANZ) is a national reciprocal borrowing scheme for New Zealand’s university libraries.
ULANZ enables borrowing in person by registered staff and students of ULANZ member universities from any other ULANZ member university's library.
All currently employed staff and currently enrolled students of ULANZ member universities are eligible to borrow in person from any other member university's library.
The following universities are members of ULANZ:Students and staff of ULANZ member universities wishing to register as reciprocal borrowers at AUT University Library must complete a ULANZ registration form and provide photographic proof of identity. In addition, students must provide proof of current enrolment at a ULANZ member university before registration can be confirmed. Similarly staff must provide proof of current employment or affiliation to a ULANZ member university.
Please go to the Lending Services Desks to enrol and obtain a registration form.
Your home institution library card or student identity card will also serve as your ULANZ borrower card at AUT Library. ULANZ borrower cards expire on the 28 February of the year following registration, or when a borrower ceases to be a current student or staff member at their ULANZ member university.
There is no fee associated with ULANZ registration.Reciprocal borrowers can borrow up to 20 books from the main collection. The loan period is for 14 days. Items are subject to recall if required by AUT staff and students. You will be sent an email advising you of the new due date after recall. Fines for the late return of recalled items are $3.00 per day.
Restrictions:Interlibrary loan, document delivery and distance services are the responsibility of your home library.
