Nikolas Siosiua

ICT Support Technician

Nikolas Siosiua - Profile

Nikolas Siosiua sums up AUT in one word – “great.”

“There are so many opportunities to grow here, especially as a staff member. The environment and atmosphere around me is motivation enough to come to work every day.

“The positivity from people, the willingness to help and the support is just awesome.”

Jack of different trades

Nikolas has many different talents. He has a creative streak; he once earned a scholarship in visual arts and he dances.

He also completed a Bachelor of Architecture Studies and worked as an architectural draftsman for two years before changing career directions.

Now studying towards his Bachelor of Computer Science here at AUT, Nikolas enjoys the social side of his role.

“I like working with people. I like meeting new people and because AUT is so diverse, it is so interesting learning new things about different cultures and rituals – the diversity here is pretty cool.”

Representing Pacific

Nikolas says he is proud to be the only Pacific Islander within his team.

“That alone is a positive thing. It’s great being a representative of our Pacific people.

“Although I am first-generation New Zealand born Niuean, I still rep my culture proudly and we still celebrate rituals together and go back to the Islands to visit our loved ones.”

“I feel proud to be from the Pacific in my role. I hope young people can see me in this position and realise that IT is a pathway that they can take as well.”
