Sales Territory Manager, Frucor
Master of Marketing
With the Master of Marketing you gain much more just than a degree to take home, says Pasitaua Haufano who has a background in product design but had always dreamt of being an entrepreneur and one day have his own business.
“With a Master of Marketing you gain real-life work experience, feel well-prepared for your career and make a lot of friends throughout your studies.
“You’re more valuable to employers because of your exposure to market research, retail and brand audits, strategic marketing and presentation skills.”
Commitment and passion
The care and effort the academics put in is exceptional, says Pasitaua.
“I love how AUT lecturers care for and take pride in their students’ learning. You can tell that they teach not just because it’s their job, but because they have the desire to help you succeed and achieve your goals. I remember many occasions where lecturers were compassionate and understanding and helped build my self-confidence,” he says.
As it had been a while since he completed his undergraduate degree, Pasitaua was initially worried about readjusting to university life, but he says it turned out to be a fantastic experience.
“I felt like it would be really difficult for me to learn how to learn again. I was afraid of wasting my money and time. However I was completely wrong.”
For Pasitaua, the favourite part of the programme was the retail audit in his Applied Marketing Concepts paper.
“It helped me learn faster because I got to apply the lessons taught in class. As part of the retail audit, you get to do exciting things like filming videos, going on field trips and learning from successful marketers.”
The resources at AUT are impressive, Pasitaua adds.
“There’s so much extra support for students – lecturers who help and give advice outside of class hours, workshops on how to complete assignments and find jobs, free library books and online articles, great learning spaces and a supportive student peer culture.”
