Currently involved in research of Recovery Strategies in Sports, Anousith Bouaaphone is the latest recipient of the Alumni Association Scholarship.
Anousith emigrated to New Zealand with his family as refugee from Laos in 1990 at the age of seven. His parents worked hard to provide him with the best of education.
Right from the start, Anousith had decided to make a career in Physiotherapy. He achieved his first milestone when graduated with a Bachelors degree at the age of 23.
However, he had higher aspirations. The following year he decided to pursue further studies and had to juggle three jobs to fund his Post Graduate fees. After successfully completing a Post Graduate Diploma in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy he enrolled for a Masters degree. With the benefit of the Scholarship, he will be able to focus better on his studies.
“I am grateful and humbled to receive the Alumni Association Scholarship” says Anousith. “It makes returning to study a lot easier as I can devote better quality time towards my research”.
