Ben Hutton
This year’s Alumni Association Scholarship recipient Ben Hutton is glad to be back studying at AUT – for the third time.
The 26 year-old moved to Auckland in 1998 from Hawkes Bay to study a Bachelor of Communication Studies, majoring in journalism. In 2001 he completed a Graduate Diploma in Business.
Ben is now embarking on a Master of Professional Business Studies while working fulltime at Sky City as a communications executive. To juggle the two, Ben is doing his masters part-time and it will take him a further 18 months to complete.
“I am excited about working towards my masters and the knowledge I will gain,” he says. “It will give me a deeper understanding of the commercial environment which I work in, as well the skills to communicate more effectively with our stakeholders.”
He is grateful to the Alumni Association for its support and says it makes returning to study much easier.
“I was thrilled when I found out and now I don’t have to worry about adding to my student loan. I can focus on the real challenge – getting my assignments done!"
