A typical lecture will normally be around 45 minutes long and involve a presentation by an expert in that particular field. A lecture is a summary of the key parts within a subject area. Lectures can use a variety of methods to explain the information such as PowerPoint presentations, discussion, overheads and whiteboards.
Students are expected to arrive on time, take notes and ask any questions they may have. The number of students attending a lecture can also vary from a large number of 200 to smaller numbers of 20-30. Some lecturers may also include interactive material during their presentation and ask you to turn and discuss a particular topic or subject with the person you are sitting next to. Lecture notes will also be accessible through Blackboard for many papers.
