Postgraduate scholarships

Summer Research Assistant Awards

AUT University Summer Research Assistant Awards are available for postgraduate students to develop their research skills and provide the opportunity for them to assist with current University research projects over the summer break. They will be offered on a contestable basis over the 2010-2011 summer break.

Graduate students who are currently enrolled (or intending to enrol) full-time in a doctoral or master’s thesis will be eligible to apply. Applicants will be invited to apply by their supervisor or project leader however interested students should approach their supervisors to discuss potential projects.

Alumni Association scholarships for continuing education

To provide financial support to AUT Alumni (including those with qualifications from Auckland Institute of Technology, Auckland Technical Institute or Seddon Memorial Technical College) undertaking post-degree study at AUT University

To recognise and encourage a student, who is achieving high academically and making a positive contribution to his or her community, to study at honours or masters level at AUT.

AUT Laptop scholarship (Supported by Cyclone Computers)

The primary objectives are to enhance the postgraduate learning experience and to increase study options for postgraduate research students through a laptop scholarship programme.

Gender and Diversity Research Group Postgraduate Research Grant

The purpose of this grant is to support and encourage research masters or PhD students interested in researching in the broad area of gender and diversity issues.

New Zealand Work and Labour Market Institute Doctoral Award

The New Zealand Work and Labour Market Institute employs New Zealand’s largest concentration of experts in human resource management, employment relations and labour economics. The purpose of this award is to support a doctoral student enrolled at AUT University in the research area of work and labour market studies in the Pacific region. Applicants pursuing a research programme focused on the development of employment relations capacity and institutions in the Pacific Islands will be particularly favoured.

Vice-Chancellor's Doctoral scholarships

The purpose of the AUT Vice-Chancellor’s Doctoral Scholarships is to encourage and stimulate doctoral studies in areas of University
research capability. Annual payment of tuition and student services fees. The scholarship does not include the students’ association fee.

Amount awarded

An annual stipend of $25,000 per year.

Undergraduate Scholarships

Keir Trust Study Award

The purpose of the Keir Trust Study Award is to encourage students facing financial barriers to undertake studies at AUT by offering financial assistance and ongoing non financial support, and to actively encourage recipients to act as role models for other young people in their school/community. Particular consideration will be given to applicants wishing to study in engineering or any trade or technician level programmes.

These scholarships are offered to Māori who attend secondary or area schools in the Northland district for the purposes of providing opportunity for study at AUT.

Women on Campus Millennium scholarship

The purpose of this scholarship is to provide recognition and some financial assistance to a current woman student who has demonstrated support for women students at AUT.
Amount awarded 1 scholarship is awarded on an annual basis. This may be split between more than 1 recipient (maximum of 3 students).
