You stay enrolled at AUT and pay your normal tuition fees to AUT. In addition you also have to pay for all of your living costs and travel to and from your host university.
If you are willing to work hard and save the money (around NZ$8,000-$12,000 per semester depending on where you go) it is definitely worth it.
We are looking for students who will be good ambassadors for AUT and New Zealand, with a strong commitment to making the most of the exchange opportunity. You must be enrolled as a full-time student in a bachelors degree and you should have completed your first year of study by the time of the exchange. You should also have achieved a B average grade in your tertiary studies.
Benefits of overseas study
Learning overseas can change your life. Immerse yourself in another culture, make lifelong connections and get some international experience on your CV even before you graduate.
If you’ve ever talked to a returned exchange student you will know the answer. They burst with enthusiasm about all the experiences they’ve had. They will tell you they have learnt so much, both academically and personally. They return as self confident, mature citizens of the world who have an increased understanding of the culture they experienced, and also of who they are as New Zealanders.
Academically, exchange students have the opportunity to learn from different teaching and learning styles, and to take papers that may not be available at AUT - adding real value to their degrees.
