Explore your career options

Congratulations on taking the next step along your career journey by exploring your options at AUT. Your first qualification at AUT is the starting point to a career path full of opportunities, adventures, challenges and unexpected outcomes.
Change and growth are all part of the 21st century world of work. As you continue along your career path you will find that participating in training on the job and further formal education will keep you open to further opportunities, both planned and unexpected.

What do you want for your future?

What are your dreams, hopes, plans and goals? What about your values, interests and preferences? If you are not sure – and lots of people are not – we're happy to help you consider your next move.

What influences your career decisions?

Your decisions are influenced by many things, including:

  • Family/friends/teachers
  • Mentors/coaches/community leaders
  • Role models and people in the media
  • Films, TV, music, blogs, online discussions
  • Experiences you have - work, hobbies, family life
  • The society and culture in which you live
  • Your self-perception or view of yourself

If you want to discuss your career decisions with a professional, don’t hesitate to make an appointment with one of our employability and career specialists through CareerHub (if you are a current student) or by visiting the Employability Lab.
