Assignments

You will be required to complete assignments in most of your papers. Your lecturer will tell you when your assignments are due and what you need to cover, or will tell you where to find this information.  You can ask them questions to clarify any points about the assignment.

You also have access to various people, systems and services to help you develop the knowledge and skills you need to excel at assignments. The following links will take you to other areas of the website that may be of use, depending on the nature of the particular assignment.

  • AUT University Library
In addition to access to books, journals, e-books and videos, the Library provides a range of services to help you with your coursework and research.

  • AUTonline
AUTonline is AUT’s web-based learning environment that lets you access course material, interact with other students and complete assignments online from any location with access to the internet.

  • Te Tari Āwhina - The Learning Development Centre
Te Tari Āwhina provides a range of free academic support if you are struggling with an assignment, essay or paper, or if you want to excel and achieve better grades.

  • Student Advisors
Your first point of contact for any practical, social, academic or personal issue you may have while studying at AUT.

What do I do if I can’t hand in my assignment?

At some point in your study you may not be able to hand in an assignment on time. When this happens, don’t think that it will simply be overlooked.

No matter how good your assignment actually is, there are usually penalties for handing in an assignment late, unless you have prior permission for an extension because of special circumstances.

If you think that you are not going to be able to hand in an assignment, talk to your lecturer before the due date.  Information about what to do in this situation, and the form you will need to complete, can be found on AUTonline or in your programme or faculty handbook.

You can also talk to a Student Advisor for assistance. Find out more about Student Advisors.
