What does Learning Development and Success: Te Tari Āwhina do?
We offer academic learning assistance to students at AUT. We assist students who are adjusting to academic culture and to new approaches to teaching and learning. We help students develop their academic skills in areas such as academic writing, referencing and studying.
Why come to and use our service?
Students come to us to improve their academic writing and communication skills, to obtain advice and guidance related to academic study and learning, and to improve and polish their academic progress. Some students use our services because they are finding aspects of academic study a challenge, others because they want to improve an already successful academic performance.

Who can come and see us?
All students enrolled in a programme of study at AUT can use all of our services and attend workshops and KEYS to Academic Success courses. Enrolled students can also access resources at any of our Self Access Learning Labs located in each branch of the AUT Library.
How much does it cost?
All of our services, consultations, workshops and programmes are offered free to students enrolled in a programme of study at AUT.
What about confidentiality?
All our services are confidential. If you are attending an individual consultation or workshop, we will ask for your student ID and if you are arranging an appointment, we will ask for contact information. Information provided in these situations is only used by us for the purposes of analysing our services. No personal details are divulged to any third parties and any information collected remains confidential.
Do you teach English?
We will work with you to help you improve your academic language and communication through the provision of workshops and individual consultations. However we do not teach the English language. If you require English language tuition, you should inquire at AUT’s School of Languages.
