Learning Development and Success: Te Tari Āwhina assists students who are adjusting to academic culture and to new approaches to teaching and learning. We also help students who require guidance on how to write academic assignments or essays and students who want to excel and achieve better grades.
Our purpose
Our purpose is to create a learning community in which ALL AUT students are enabled to realise their potential as learners and are developed as they strive to achieve their learning goals.
We aim to achieve this purpose by
- Creating a place where students and colleagues are supported in their independent pursuit of learning.
- Working with students to develop strategies to allow them to explore and fulfil their academic potential
- Working closely with colleagues in faculties, schools and other teaching and learning units.
- Contributing professionally to the broader academic community.
What we offer AUT students and staff
We offer academic learning development services to students at AUT. Assistance for academic work is provided through KEYS courses, faculty or discipline based workshops, by individual consultations, Self Access Learning Labs, peer tutors and Drop In Centres.
We also have specialist areas and offer academic skills development for Māori and Pasifika students, students enrolled in postgraduate study, students with a disability and students who require additional English language skills assistance.
AUT staff can learn more about how we work in collaboration with AUT colleagues in schools and faculties to enhance student learning by developing discipline based academic support and resources.
