Where you can park on campus and how much it costs. Alternatives to driving to campus - bus, rail, ferry and park-and-ride options.
Driving to AUT campuses
Driving to AUT might seem convenient, but campuses only have very limited parking available. Before you reach for the car keys, think about other options:
- Bus, train or ferry - read or relax while someone else does the work
- Park and ride - leave your car closer to home and take public transport
- Walking or cycling - a great way to add exercise to your day
- Carpooling - can you share the trip with anyone else?
Park and ride stations
Bus
If you travel by bus, you can take advantage of Park and Ride facilities on the Northern Busway route at Albany and Constellation stations. There are also well-planned drop off and pick up zones at all five Northern Busway stations - Akoranga, Albany, Constellation, Sunnynook and Smales Farm.
Train
Free parking is available at these select stations on a first come first serve basis: Glen Innes, Homai, Manurewa, Orakei, Panmure, Papakura, Papatoetoe, Pukekohe, Ranui, Sunnyvale and Swanson.
Ferry
Many ferry terminals have convenient connecting bus services which will get you to and from the ferry terminal in time for sailing. For more information about Park and Ride options and facilities, visit the MAXX website.
Car pooling
If you must drive a car, try carpooling with another student that lives in your area. You get to share petrol costs and the more people in the car, the less cars on the road. To find someone to carpool with, have a look at the
Yeeha Share a Car website.

Towing
Owners of vehicles parked in unauthorised areas including the visitor car parks and/or displaying an incorrect/invalid permit will receive a breach notice and be charged the enforcement breach fee. Parking in designated mobility spaces without the appropriate CCS permit, on yellow lines, in clear ways or on lawns/gardens will result in tow-away or a breach notice being issued. Repeat offending may result in vehicles being towed and/or clamped at the owner's risk and expense.
Reviews of breach notices or any penalties applied including refunds of towing/clamping fees will not be accepted on the grounds of ignorance of regulations, no legal parking space available, bad weather, late for class/work, permit not displayed properly, expired permit, failure to obtain permit/pay and display ticket and not obeying signage.
