MyFiles and Webmail - to send and receive files and email

If you want to send and receive files and mail using the tools provided by AUT, you can access the MyFiles and WebMail services from any location with an internet connection.

MyFiles

MyFiles lets you do anything you would normally do with your files on campus, from a remote location. You can download files from your H:\ drive to your personal computer by following these steps:

  1. Open up a web browser, for example Internet Explorer.
  2. Go to the MyFiles page (https://myfiles.aut.ac.nz/).
  3. Login with your username and password.
  4. Select the file you want to download from the folders on the left of the screen.
  5. Click on the File menu, select Download from the options.
  6. Find the location in which you’d like to store the file, and click on Save.

You can also upload files from your H:\ drive to your personal computer by following these steps:

  1. Open up a web browser, for example Internet Explorer.
  2. Go to the MyFiles page (https://myfiles.aut.ac.nz/).
  3. Login with your username and password.
  4. Select the folder that you want to upload the file to from the list on the left of the screen.
  5. Click on the File menu, select Upload from the options.
  6. Browse to the file you wish to upload to your folder.
  7. Ensure that the Overwrite Existing Files option is un-ticked and rename the file that needs to be uploaded so it won’t clash with an existing file.
  8. Click the Upload button.

WebMail

WebMail is web-based email which means that it can be accessed from anywhere you have internet access. When you enrol at AUT, you automatically get a personal email address based on your login name as well as 40MB of email storage. If your login is abc1234 then your email address would be abc1234@aut.ac.nz. To access your AUT WebMail click on the eMail tab via the UniCentral site or go to http://webmail.aut.ac.nz.
