Trains are a cheap, fast and easy way of getting into the city from West, South and East Auckland.
Britomart is the central city train station. It takes about 15 minutes to walk from Britomart to the City Campus. Buses also run from Britomart to very near AUT.
Check out the MAXX website for timetables and fares.
Train staff will come around the train and collect your fare after you have boarded. You can also purchase multi-ride tickets on the train.
Train fares are charged on the distance you wish to travel. 'Stages' are set at specific points along the railway line; if your journey travels across a stage then the fare increases.
If your nearest station is too far to walk, you could cycle to the station. It costs $1 to take your bike on a train. 'Bike and ride' cycle lockers are available at the Glen Innes, Manurewa and Papatoetoe train stations.
